I'm Virginie, I live in the Ubaye valley, in Enchastrayes. I deeply love mountains, nature, and cold: My valley!
As long as I can remember I've always drawn, clothes, hats, or scarves. I cannot explain it, I'm entirely self-taught, but also left-handed!
I think I was about 6 or 7 years old when I made my first pattern and my first confection. Back then, I'd decided to make gloves for one of my dolls. I'd made the pattern, chosen the fabric, I could see the final piece in my head ; I had cut the fabric, hand-sewn the little pieces of cloth, but as a true left-handed person I had made two left hands! Since then, I've become very careful when making new models, because it still happens to me from time to time...
I've created Arhippa Creation in January 2009, initially displaying my creations on the markets of the Alpes de Haute Provence and the Hautes Alpes. First, I presented only my hand-crafted hats, then from 2010 with my socks, and other fashion accessories to protect from the sun in summer and from cold in winter.
In May 2017, I reached a new stage by rejoining the artisans of the Maison des Produits de Pays in Jausiers, in the Ubaye valley.
Finally 2020 was the year of the numerical leap... During the quarantine, while I couldn't go meet my clients on the markets, I opened a Facebook page to present my creations and my craftsmanship. In October, Arhippa Creation is officially recognized by the Chamber of Trades of PACA as arts and crafts of its region... The following month, determined to anchor my work in the numerical world, I opened the first Arhippa Creation website.
In January 2022, Arhippa experienced a revolution, or perhaps it was simply a natural evolution. After completing her studies, my daughter Canelle joined the company, bringing her expertise, energy and freshness to the table. She was the one who took charge of the digital aspect of Arhippa, shaping the image of what had become our company, post after post.
Since then, we create, design, and manufacture Arhippa creations together.
In winter, we create fur hats made from recycled materials, silky fur collars, woolen beret or soft and warm mittens that give an elegant and feminine look while keeping warm even in freezing weather.
In summer, we manufacture a wide variety of models that protect both from sun's rays and raindrops. Feminine, light, chic, and practical, our creations fold to find a small place in your bag without ever getting damaged.
Solidity, comfort, originality, elegance and craftsmanship are our watchwords and guide for designing our unique models each year.
Our philosophy is to use what our country produces. Thus, most of our fabrics, ribbons, and buttons are made in France.
Even though, ecology seems at times to be an abstract concept, we are committed to using our materials as much as possible. We strive to produce as little waste as possible, and we donate the small scraps of fabrics to school in the valley ; children use them to make pictures, blankets, garlands.
In winter, the fur of our creation is made of recycled plastic bottle, it is as soft and warm as real fur while contributing to respect the environment. This combination of elegance, comfort and commitment is part of this new sustainable fashion trend, but also respond to the environmental concerns of our time.
We are weekly on the markets of Barcelonnette, Briançon and Guillestre. But we also take part at others local events, such as festive markets, trade fairs, or Christmas markets, throughout the Southern Alps, where we will be happy to welcome you and advise you in choosing your next hat.
